Cyprus: Andrew Lambrou
Cyprus was er vroeg bij dit jaar. Als één van de eerste landen lieten ze weten wie het eiland vertegenwoordigt op het Eurovisie Songfestival 2023… Het is Andrew Lambrou! Hij is als zesde aan de beurt in de tweede halve finale op donderdag 11 mei met zijn nummer ‘Break a Broken Heart’.
De zanger is geboren in Australië en werd vorig jaar nog 7e in de Australische nationale voorrondes van het Eurovisie Songfestival 2022 (een finale waar Voyager ook in stond!). Dit jaar komt hij uit voor zijn Grieks-Cypriotische roots, want zijn grootouders komen uit Cyprus en Griekenland.

Hoe is Andrew Lambrou gekozen om namens Cyprus mee te doen aan het Eurovisie Songfestival?
Via een interne selectie van de Cypriotische omroep CyBC. Op 17 oktober maakten ze bekend dat ze voor Lambrou hebben gekozen om Cyprus te vertegenwoordigen in Liverpool.
